Unnatural analogs of the anti-Alzheimer drug (-)-galanthamine have been synthesized using K3[Fe(CN)]6 at the key step to construct the novel ()-6H-benzo[a]cyclohepta[hi]benzofuran ring system via oxidative tandem cyclization.
